Vol. 8: Dec. 2025

Culross Community Newsletter, 10 December 2025

Dear Neighbors,

I hope this newsletter finds you healthy and happy.

We do not have a neighbor to feature this month. Given that, this missive is mostly updates, just in case you ‘re not active on the Culross website that Jeremy created for us.

Please reach out if you are interested in being a featured neighbor.

In addition to providing information about the happenings in our neighborhood, the main purpose of this newsletter is for neighbors to become acquainted with each other and become more neighborly neighbors.

ON A MORE PERSONAL NOTE

Our daughter from Italy is coming to visit with her family in January and Funk and I are so looking forward to it. Our son and his girlfriend will visit during that time too.

Most of the friends that I grew up with have never left the island, or even traveled much. The upside is that their families haven’t left the island either, which means they are in contact with them on a daily basis. Funk and I have lived in many different places and one of the main drawbacks of that lifestyle is that our family is scattered across the country. So, having a few of our children visit at the same time is an exciting thing for us!

OTHER NEWS

It’s always a heavy lift for any new board to transition into their new roles, but our new board has made great strides in a short period of time. Here are some of their accomplishments to date.

The website is more robust. Everything is now digitized and the following can be found on it

a. Board meeting minutes

b. All past Culross Corporation documents

c. The annual budget

d. The bylaws

Other strides

a. Mike spent many hours developing a budget and everything is now recorded electronically

b. Vendors have been secured for the community’s needs, such as for snow removal and drain clearing

c. A crew from Mejia Landscaping did a fall clean-up on the road to help mitigate the leaves from blocking the drain near the ravine. That served us well in the last big rainstorm, as there was no flooding on the road from that storm

d. The snowplow company is in place for the winter season

Other things to note

a. Repairs to the road will be undertaken in the spring

b. The membership voted yes to the board’s suggested annual budget

c. The board is sorting out the particulars having to do with my property line
